THE BENGAL.

Rare, exotic, once seen, will remain forever in your memory. Truly, The Cat for the Connoisseur.

THIS SPECTACULAR CAT HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE ENDANGERED SPECIES LIST!

The surprise birth of the very first Bengal in the 60s was the the result of an accidental mating between Kin Kin, an Asian Leopard Cat, believed to be sterile, and her companion, a Black Domestic Shorthair.

Then, outcrosses to the Egyptian Mau, the Abyssinian, the Ocicat and the Burmese, and, today, we have the large, long, spectacular Bengal, originally called The Leopardette, strikingly striped and patterned with a soft, thick, glossy pelt and huge eyes, small ears and puffy whisker pads.

First prize is a Bengal with its glistening pelt covered in gold glitter.

Coat patterns are either Leopard or Marble, colours vary from the striking Brown Spotted and Marbled with great green eyes to the blue-eyed, delicately coloured, subtly-patterned Snow Bengal , and the Silver Bengal with its silvery undercoat and black markings.

This exceptional cat is loyal, stable, affectionate, intelligent, active and playful, and the Bengal loves water-play! The Bengal is excellent with children and dogs and is said to be immune to many common feline illnesses.

The male Bengal is heavily-muscled and weighs in at maturity at 6-8 kg.

Kittens are called ubs'. Markings are fuzzier at birth than when the Bengal is fully grown.

SAGAPAW BENGAL AND BURMESE is the proud owner of SANUK GOLD DUST who, although only a kitten in 2002 was nominated twice for Best on Show.

Gold Dust is a Brown Spotted Tabby Bengal whose face body and legs are evenly tiger-striped in black. Her long elegant tail has even black rings all the way down to the tip which is solid black. Her pale tummy is spotted with evenly spaced large brown rosettes.

We are eagerly awaiting Gold Dusts first litter of cubs early in 2003.

Sanuk Gold Dust, a Bengal, only 8 generations removed from the Asian Leopard, is a Brown Spotted female Bengal covered in gold glitter. Just one year old now, Gold Dust has already been nominated for Best On Show.

Here is Champion Sagapaw Cream Caprice (Burmese)  with Sanuk Gold Dust (Bengal) who has been mated today to one of our top studs
