Burg Loisenthal German Shepard Dogs
was started in 1996 by Wolfgang and Samantha Straub in the Pretoria Region.
They were since joined by Dr Johan Klopper. Wolfgang and
Samantha as well as Dr Johan have been involved in training and breeding of dogs for more than 15 years. Wolfgang was
involved in SV in Germany and Samantha in KUSA all breeds training i.e. dog jumping,
working trials and obedience.
All the breeding stock used by the
Burg Loisenthal German Shepherd Dogs have been tested in the Breed Survey and most in the
Schutzhund test. No dog graded less than "excellent" is used for breeding
purposes. They are also passed through the Hip Dysplasia scheme to ensure that this very
important standard is maintained.
New bloodlines are regularly imported
from Germany to ensure variation in the breeding program.
